Into the Sunset: Bush Enters Last 100 Days in Office

George W. Bush The End of the World is Nigh!

George W. Bush, 43rd President, has overseen one of the most controversial times in American history.

The new was barely off his toy when the 9/11 attacks brought Islamic terrorism to U.S. soil. Reprisals, including pre-emptive wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, followed.

He was in charge when Katrina and Rita hit the Gulf Coast, and more recently, when Ike hit Galveston.

He was instrumental in the mid-term dismissal of U.S. attorneys, a scandal that persists today.

He has seen the national debt go over $10 trillion during his term of office, and his administration has produced a significant growth of debt-to-GDP ratio, only the second time since World War II that this has happened. (The other was under his daddy’s administration.)

He had the highest approval ever, above 90%, after the 9/11 attacks. He has one of the lowest ever today. Some argue the U.S. is much worse off today because of his failed leadership. Many are laying the current economic troubles at his feet.

He has 100 days left to work on his legacy; but it appears at this time that there is little he can do to avoid an overall negative perception of his policies and heritage for decades to come. There are not many who stand in his corner as the last round bell sounds.
